Summer 2025: Weddings & Wonderland

Summer 2025 Newsletter

Here I am, late as usual. Life has been very busy.

I have an event coming up on September 6th at the Hardline Collective in Tacoma from 12-5pm. Come get a book, come get a bookish tattoo, or come say hello to me! I’ve started working with a number of new bookstores: Grit City Books in Tacoma, The Lakewood Bookstore in Lakewood, Page Turner Books in Kent. I am in contact with several more and plan to have more upcoming events.

Lester will be free as an e-book from Amazon October 1st – October 5th. This will be my final free promotion for Lester as I will be removing it from Kindle Unlimited after October 28th. If you still need to grab a copy for your Kindle, I suggest you mark your calendar. Also, tell your horror loving friend to pick up a free read. If you haven’t already, please head over to Amazon or GoodReads (even better if it’s both) and give Lester a review.

Additionally, I have archived The Impression of Leaves on Amazon. It will no longer be available for purchase. I am planning on archiving the audiobook for Wonderland. I added it to make the novel accessible for a friend with a disability despite my reluctance. I have resolved to remove the audiobook until I can get it professionally narrated because I do not support the use of AI. I will be removing it at the end of the month.

Throughout August and September, I will be editing my second draft of Beartooth which means we are nearing the time of needing BETA-READERS! If you are interested, please reach out at kimberlywheelockwrites@gmail.com .

For a short synopsis, Beartooth follows a family, in particular the three children after the parents go missing and they are left to adapt to life without their parents. Ten years later, their parents come back the same age as when they left and they are different… It has themes of grief, addiction (and recovery), and family. Beartooth is a fantasy novel, specifically of magical realism as it ties fantastical elements into a realistic setting. The first half of Beartooth was written in 2020. During the height of the pandemic, I decided to write my first novel. Lacking confidence and skill, I set it aside. I completed the second half earlier this year. I am hopeful that by October (fingers crossed), I will have a draft ready to share with beta-readers.

On a more personal note, we’ve had two big endeavors this year. We finished my writing loft this spring and it is gorgeous. I plan to share pictures once it is fully decorated. I am so thankful for my husband and this amazing gift he has given me. Which brings me to my next announcement: we are married! Earlier this month, we were wed at the top of Chinook Pass on the Naches Peak Loop (near where Peri left Mount Rainier and began on the PCT.) I will continue writing under the name Kimberly Wheelock but will be spending my future as Mrs. Hickox. He’s been supportive of my dream every step of the way and I am overjoyed to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.

As always, thank you to my faithful readers for your support. Stay tuned for the next newsletter in the Fall of 2025.
