Winter 2026: New Year, Same Struggles
We have arrived at the start of another new year. My life update will be a short one. Chris and I were grateful to spend Thanksgiving with our dearest friends and Christmas was spent alongside our children and family. I don’t ever forget how blessed I am for the people in my life. We are putting the final plans into place for our honeymoon in Belize. I can’t wait for this adventure.
I have four confirmed events in the coming months.
· February 7th at Art Major Studio in Snoqualmie, Washington from 11am – 5pm for the Book’d and Tatt’d: Love in All Forms of Ink. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DS4NVTAEtGV/
· February 13th at Big Block Brewing in Redmond, Washington from 5pm – 9pm for the Literary Love & Libations Galetine’s Event. https://rkdevon.com/galentines-2026/
· March 1st at Island Books in Mercer Island, Washington from 2pm – 4pm for the Local Author Festival. https://islandbooks.com/event/2026-03-01/local-author-festival

More events are currently in the works, and I will be updating my calendar as each is confirmed. You can stay up to date at https://www.kimberlywheelockwrites.com/ where you will also find every store currently selling copies of my books. I would encourage you to check out the businesses on the list and give your support to those small businesses (excluding the Amazon links obviously). I plan on expanding into Olympia and Seattle bookstores in the coming year. I am also pleased to note that Wonderland and Lester are available at the Pierce and King County public libraries.
The second draft of Beartooth is slowly coming along, the key word in that sentence is “slowly.” You would think now that I have completed two novels, and have a few years as an indie author under my belt, I would have figured out this tangle of craft, editing, publishing, and selling. I have yet to find balance. I have been heavily focused on marketing and collaboration to bring attention to my published works, which results in time spent away from the actual process of writing. If you want to be an indie author, you better learn to juggle. We are parents, friends, children, and partners, we have full-time jobs, health issues, and obligations, and we commit to wearing every hat of creating a book from start to finish. It’s been a journey to say the least, but one that is showing dividends. Wonderland continues to inspire readers and I was recently blessed to be invited to join a local book club as they discussed it. I know of three upcoming book clubs that will be reading Wonderland in the coming months. It’s incredible to watch it reach new audiences. Lester, which is very different in a lot of ways, is starting to find its footing and I am happy to see it so well-received. It’s only a couple of ratings away from hitting fifty.
Ideally, I will have the draft complete and ready for beta-readers before I leave for honeymoon, but so far, none of my best intentions have moved this process forward. I am considering becoming an absolute martinet when it comes to my time and abandoning my phone (and internet connection) somewhere on top of a high mountain. I have a feeling that it would help.
Again, my website will be the best place to stay up to date on my whereabouts in the months to come. https://www.kimberlywheelockwrites.com/
If you have come with me this far, thank you for your support, Dear Reader.
